We have no knowledge of the history of this jabot, until it found its way into my collection to be  re-invented as an object for learning.

According to The Lace Book by N. Hudson Moore 1905 "The weaaring of the periwig crossed the water from France about 1645, as the Grand Monarch had started the fashion, and the lace collar gave place to the jabot, or lace band. The English term for this article was neck-cloth or cravat"

Included in the design are scrolls, leaves and flowers which are joined together using plaits and picots; characteristic of Honiton lace.
